Verdi's Requiem is in a class of its own within the lyric repertoire. Audiences and musicians have often had contradictory opinions about it. Be that as it may, it was an immediate success for some years after its first performance in 1874. It then fell somewhat into neglect up until the 1930s, but has since emerged as one of the favourite bravura pieces for the most renowned groups, conductors and soloists. The rich subtleties, spirituality, inner turmoil and musical passion bound up in this work make it an unforgettable concert experience.

Saviez-vous qu’il existe plus de 1600 Requiem ? Quels sont les plus célèbres dans l’histoire de la musique ? En écrit-on encore ?
This beautiful sacred work ranks with the masterpieces of the genre by Pergolesi, Fauré and Poulenc. All the intimacy of the musician is displayed here with intensity and emotion.
All the darkness and tenderness of Verdi's opera in a version adapted for young audiences, where they will once again be invited to join in the singing.
A rare display of double tessitura in this 'baritenore' recital by Michael Spyres.
