It is an understatement to say that Adam Laloum knows his Brahms like the back of his hand, having recorded several of his pieces. Twenty years separate the composer's two piano concertos. While the first is the work of a young musician seeking a balance between classical tradition and romantic innovation, the second is immediately part of his mature works. This second opus is so densely orchestrated that it almost deserves the title of "symphonic concerto". The pianist, who emphasises both the “nobility and the whimsical writing”, has all the qualities to make them work together. In the second part, the famous and cosmopolitan symphony From the New World by the Czech Dvořák, composed during his stay in the United States, expresses the universality of feelings. It does not matter whether you belong to a culture or a nation, only man matters, beyond differences and destinies. A message that is still relevant today.
