Shostakovitch 24 Preludes and Fugues op. 87 (excerpts)
Beethoven Sonate No. 28 op. 101
Prokofiev Sonate No. 7 op. 83
The great international concert halls are vying to welcome the young German-Russian pianist Igor Levit, who now ranks among the international piano elite. Although very much at home in his time (he is extremely active on social media and in numerous civic commitments), he is an artist who prefers depth to haste. His passion is above all for the German repertoire, for Bach and the Viennese classicism of Beethoven, which have earned him his reputation. These are of course on the programme of this recital, but here he also explores his Russian origins with Shostakovich and Prokofiev.
