Les Ambassadeurs~La Grande Ecurie
Alexis Kossenko | direction and flute
Alexis Kossenko and his ensemble Les Ambassadeurs with a programme devoted wholly to Mozart.
Mozart Le Nozze di Figaro, overture
Concerto for flute K. 213 « Dejean »
Symphony No. 41 K. 551 « Jupiter »
“Musicians who each have their own habits and aesthetic need to be brought together. By confronting a young ensemble with another older custodian of the legacy which must be honoured,” says Alexis Kossenko, referring to the recent fusion of “his” Ambassadeurs with the Grande Ecurie of the late Jean-Claude Malgoire. He will put this theory into practice with this morning’s Mozart. After the wild overture of The Marriage of Figaro in counterpoint to the “Jupiter” Symphony, the conductor will take up his flute to bring his magic to Concerto K 313, composed by Mozart at the age of 22 as a commission for the Dutch officer Ferdinand De Jean, a rich patron and keen amateur flautist. Undoubtedly “the spring of good humour and fresh invention” identified by Alfred Einstein will gush forth once again.
