Young audience workshops Comment ça marche ?

Forget Miloš Forman’s Amadeus with its image of Salieri transcribing the notes of the Requiem from Mozart’s lips on his deathbed. We owe most of the conclusion to this final score to Franz Xaver Süssmayer (1766-1803). Mozart did not believe him to be up to the task, but Süssmayer had already allowed the composer, who was overworked from his work on The Magic Flute, to complete the recitatives for La Clemenza di Tito on time. In 1827, Abbot Maximilian Stadler (1748-1833), who had helped to orchestrate a few bars of the work, commissioned a transcription for two pianos from the virtuoso Czerny, who was born in the year of Mozart’s death. The Geister Duo will revive this mass for the dead with the Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris.
