The first concert of the second season of Les Siècles’ residency on avenue Montaigne with their conductor François-Xavier Roth. This time they are visiting two classical music “greats”, but on period instruments as usual. Beethoven’s only violin concerto, which was contemporary with Symphony No. 4 and Piano Concerto No. 4, was a huge hit. Performers consider this incredible “love poem in musical form” to be one of the most perfect in the entire repertoire. Chouchane Siranossian, a young Armenian violinist and keen period instrument player, enjoys performing early music, classical and contemporary repertoire with equal enthusiasm. In the second half of the programme, we are treated to another hit from the symphonic repertoire with excerpts from Mozart’s last symphony – the “Jupiter”. Mozart’s genius is at its peak as formal logic and epic inspiration combine.
