Jakub Hrůša, a rising star in the conducting firmament, returns to the rostrum with the Wiener Philharmoniker.

The young Czech conductor Jakub Hrůša, former assistant to Myung-Whun Chung and director of the excellent Bamberg Orchestra and the Royal Opera House in London, is one of the maestros most eagerly sought-after by major symphony orchestras and opera houses. He has worked with the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic orchestras, the Bavarian Radio Orchestra, Leipzig, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, and the orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome, not forgetting his activity on the other side of the Pond where he has earned the endorsement of musicians in New York, Boston and Cleveland. He is still relatively unknown in France but this is his second visit to Paris with the Wiener Philharmoniker. This is undoubtedly a mark of excellence. Equally at home in the orchestra pit and in a concert setting, he likes to champion his national repertoire (he is president of the Martinů Circle and the Society of Friends of Dvořák). We are therefore looking forward to hearing his Dvořák, where we know he demonstrates impeccably brilliant mastery of form and rythym. The combination of his Slav temperament, the Viennese strings and pianist Igor Levit, a member of the international keyboard elite, will ensure a first-class evening.
