These three musicians are close friends and enjoy performing chamber music together. They have joined forces once again for Schubert’s two piano trios. These are late works by the composer, but fit seamlessly into the group’s favourite repertoire of Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms. Although the piano embraces the full span of the keyboard, creating a radiant line, the cello provides the lyrical element. The whole of Schubert’s world is encapsulated: light, dark, gentle, tortured and elemental as opposite extremes are contrasted.
