Young Franco-American pianist Paul Ji, is a very promising newcomer on the international piano circuit. He studied for ten years with Qin Yingming (winner of the Long Thibaud prize in 1981) and at the Ecole Normale de Paris with Jean-Bernard Pommier. He won the American Protégé competition at Carnegie Hall in 2012, and the International Steinway Competition seven times between 2010 and 2018, and was therefore selected to perform as the French representative at the Steinway Music Festival at the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg. In the same year, he played at the Berlin Philharmonic Concert Hall as winner of the Rising Stars Grand Prix competition in Berlin, and at the Annecy music festival. He attracted attention as the winner of the French TV show Prodiges in 2019 (at the tender age of 15) and recorded his first album on the Warner label. He has won several international competitions in the United States and Europe, and began his professional career as a recitalist at some of the most prestigious venues. For his first visit to the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, he has chosen to play a programme of Chopin, a composer whom he performs with elegance and nobility.
