Since winning first prize in the prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2005, Polish pianist Rafał Blechacz has pursued a flawless career. He progresses with a rigour, seriousness and perfectionism which command respect – not least because he has taken a year out to complete a PhD thesis on the philosophy of music.
