Roger Muraro devotes himself entirely to Liszt, his longtime travelling companion.

Liszt is synonymous with virtuosity. As instrument-making developed, the Hungarian composer attempted to vie on the keyboard with the devilish violin of the Italian Paganini. In short, “He experimented and became the precursor of modern piano technique engaging the entire body, shoulders and arms, using the wrist as a shock absorber, and making very clever use of the pedal,” according to Roger Muraro. “But he was first and foremost a deeply emotional man who could be moved by a painting, sculpture or reading a poem – with God in the mix too!,” notes the Lyon-born pianist, for whom “Liszt has been, and will continue to be as far as possible, my travelling companion”. Tonight they are setting off on a pilgrimage through Liszt’s travel memories.
