An hour-long event focusing on discovering Maurice Ravel’s Ma Mère l’Oye by listening to the orchestra and conductor's explanations. Ma Mère l’Oye is a work based on several traditional fairytales including Charles Perrault’s Mother Goose Tales. There are three versions of the work, a first version as a piano duet, a second version for a small formation, and a third for a full symphony orchestra. Although he had no children of his own, Ravel revelled in the theme of childhood, which recurs in L’Enfant et les sortilèges. This is an ideal introduction for youngsters to the classical music repertoire.
