    Vienna-Paris
    Lieder by Haydn, Mozart, Schubert
    Melodies by Hahn, Fauré, Debussy

Schubert is the undisputed master of the Lied, not only on account of the 599 entries in his catalogue of Lieder, but also because he used them to experiment with the full richness of operatic singing. Philippe Jaroussky and Jérôme Ducros already visited his work several seasons ago with grace and sensitivity. Haydn and Mozart will round off the Viennese segment of this programme before the two friends return to the banks of the Seine to celebrate French melodies in all is glory and take up the challenge of blending a clear understanding of the text with musical expressivity. Words and notes will come together in perfect harmony.
