Opera arias and ensembles by the winners of the Voix Nouvelles 2023 competition
Launched in 1988 by the Centre français de promotion lyrique (CFPL) and the Fondation France-Télécom (now the Fondation Orange), the Voix Nouvelles competition has been instrumental in discovering singers who are now familiar faces on international opera stages. The aim of the competition is to identify new artists and to help them to navigate the transition into the professional opera ecosystem. It allows young artists, including those who have not followed the traditional training path, to be heard by opera professionals. What makes it unique, is that it seeks out artists by travelling the length and breadth of France: the pre-selection rounds take place in every region of mainland France, in overseas departments, in French-speaking countries, and in partnership with the Institut français in major European capital cities (Berlin, Bucharest). After the national final, the winners all take part in a gala performance. The 2023 winners included several performers who were no strangers to the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées: Lauranne Oliva (who will be performing in Handel’s Messiah conducted by Hervé Niquet in December and in the Stabat Mater in January), Léo Vermot-Desroches (who will sing Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni in January), Juliette Mey (Une Cenerentola and Alceste last season), Héloïse Poulet, Lotte Verstaen, Emy Gazeilles (Un Rigoletto in 2022), and Livia Louis-Joseph-Dogué.
