    Fazıl Say |  piano

Fazıl Say, ever keen to surprise and insatiably curious for new horizons, takes us from Handel to his own latest work Opus No.99.

Handel  Suite No. 4 HWV 437
Haydn  Sonata for piano Hob. XVI : 37
Say  Sonata for piano Op. 99 « Yeni hayat »
Schubert  Sonata for piano No. 21 D. 960

For over a quarter of a century, commentators of every ilk have highlighted the theatrical brilliance of his style. Now in his fifties, Fazıl Say is still full of surprises. On this occasion, avenue Montaigne will rediscover a Suite by Georg Friedrich Handel with its familiar sarabande, a sonata by “papa” Haydn which is perfect for his playing style full of surprises, and Franz Schubert’s last piano piece. Although this Turkish pianist is a frequent international traveller, he continues to add to his catalogue of some one hundred works. His modern self-penned work this evening, Opus 99, is sub-titled “New life”, no less.
