Edgar Moreau | cello
This perfectly musically attuned trio truly delivers Beethoven.
Beethoven Sonata for Cello and Piano No. 5 op. 102
Sonata for violin and piano op. 47 No. 9 « A Kreutzer »
Trio for piano, violin and cello No. 7 op. 97 « Archiduc »
This enthusiastic and close-knit trio illuminates three major works from the Beethoven chamber music repertoire with their talent. By way of introduction, we have the last sonata for piano and cello whose closing allegro never fails to make a powerful impression, followed by the most famous sonata for violin and piano – Opus 47 known as the “Kreutzer”. This true head-to-head battle between the two instruments, alternating with brio between classicism and fledgling romanticism, is one of the musician’s finest chamber music works. To round off, we have the last of Beethoven’s trios, in which he demonstrates outstanding formal inventiveness and an incredible sense of colour.
